Welcome to Karlic. By accessing or using our service at karlic-app.web.app, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the service.
1. Description of Service
Karlic is a context analysis tool for social media videos. You submit a video URL, and Karlic generates an AI-powered analysis that surfaces what's claimed, what's supported by other sources, what's missing, where sources disagree, and who posted the content.
Karlic is not a fact-checker. We never label content as "true" or "false." Credibility assessments use a spectrum of high, medium, low, or contested — never a binary pass/fail. The analysis is context to help you think critically, not a verdict to think for you.
2. Account Creation
To use Karlic, you must create an account using Google or Apple sign-in. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account. You agree to provide accurate information and to notify us promptly of any unauthorized use of your account.
3. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use automated tools, bots, or scrapers to access the service
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract source code from the service
- Submit URLs containing illegal content or content that violates the rights of others
- Use the service to harass, defame, or harm individuals or organizations
- Resell, redistribute, or commercially exploit Karlic's analysis outputs without permission
- Circumvent any rate limits, access controls, or security measures
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
4. Intellectual Property
Karlic and its design, code, brand, and underlying technology are owned by us. You retain ownership of the video URLs you submit — we make no claim to the underlying video content.
Analysis results are AI-generated outputs produced by the service. You may use your own analysis results for personal, non-commercial purposes. You may not represent Karlic's analyses as your own original research or professional opinion.
5. Disclaimer of Accuracy
Analysis results are AI-generated and may contain errors, omissions, or inaccuracies. Karlic provides context, not certainty. Our analyses are not professional advice — they are not a substitute for journalism, legal counsel, medical guidance, or any other professional service.
We make reasonable efforts to ensure the quality and accuracy of our analyses, but we do not guarantee that any analysis is complete, correct, or up to date. You are responsible for evaluating the information and making your own judgments.
6. Service Availability
Karlic is currently in beta. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access to the service. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time, with or without notice. We will make reasonable efforts to notify users of significant changes.
7. Free Tier and Future Pricing
Karlic currently offers a free tier with a limited number of analyses. We reserve the right to introduce paid plans in the future. If we do, existing free-tier features may be adjusted, and you will be notified in advance of any changes that affect your account.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Karlic and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the service. This includes, but is not limited to, damages for loss of profits, data, reputation, or other intangible losses.
Our total liability for any claim arising from the service shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the 12 months prior to the claim, or $50, whichever is greater.
9. Termination
You may stop using Karlic at any time. You may request account deletion by contacting us at the email address below.
We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, or if we reasonably believe your use poses a risk to the service or other users. Upon termination, your right to access the service ceases immediately. We will delete your personal data within 30 days of account termination upon request.
10. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you via email or through a prominent notice on the service. Your continued use of Karlic after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
11. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which the service operator resides, without regard to conflict of law principles.
